Currently in Boston

I'm currently in Boston, where I was about to write about a mosquito I killed yesterday evening (a mosquito(!), in the middle of winter), when all of a sudden, another mosquito just swooped down and tried to preserve it's life by extracting some vital fluid from mine.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't mosquito's supposed to be a summer insect...And not come out during winter. More and more people seem to be blaming the current weather conditions to person made Global Warming. I'm not fully convinced that what were currently experiencing is actually our fault. Don't get me wrong, I fully believe that we've become a virus upon the globe, and unless (well, it might be to late for this) we immediately reverse our course, the worlds weather pattern will greatly alter. But, what's difficult for me to grasp, or to put it another way 'comprehend', is if this current pattern was contributed solely by humans, why is the temperature so high??? And, why is it fluctuating in such a weird way? It's currently 46 degrees, but two days ago, it was as high as 69 degrees. My other question, and this one is purely more selfish, where was this weather while I was living her. My last two winters in Boston were the coldest and snowiest in over 100 years!

I guess the next few years will give us a good index of whether we -people- have been the cause of all this, or, if it's just another naturally occurring alteration of weather patterns. Personally, I hope for the latter, as I really don't feel a desire to kill anymore mosquito's.

Arin,

You're stepping off of the liberal plantation just a bit here. Global warming is a fact. So they say on the TV and in every paper or magazine we read. It sounds like you're getting a bit uppity and applying some thought to this Global warming thing, and are actually looking for hard proof as opposed to the theory that the media, and Al Gore sell as fact. The earth is a very big and complex thing that we may not have the capacity to ever fully understand. When I was a kid the same people were saying we were all going to die becasue we were headed for another ice age and that the polar caps were going to grow to gargantuan proportions and that we woudl all be wiped out like the dinosaurs and cave men were. The facts are that we have had very large fluctuations in temperatures in the distant past, before man had cars, toasters, tv's and nuclear energy. Good luck on the rest of your journey.
