Random Flow of Thought
This entry may mean something or may mean nothing. As you read from the heading, this is a completely flow of the head directly into the fingers entry. I've neglected this lonely blog too long. It's time that I spend more quality time in my direction of write.
I'm not sure how many of you remember my entry regarding politicians. It was a random set of babbling, where I expressed my displeasure for the lack of responses I'd received - especially by one in particular- of my writings. Call me old fashion, but one a constituent writes a representative a letter, I believe that constituent deserves some type of response. Even, if it's just a letter template that says "Your representative has received your letter; Thank you for writing." Somehow, this courtesy has gone straight over the heads of Senator.
About 5 months ago, I called the Senators office to express my displeasure for being completely ignored- I'd sent them, I think, three E-mails and 3 hand written letters. I obviously knew I would not be able to speak directly with the Senator, nor was I interested in expressing my dissatisfaction directly to him. I did however speak with someone in his office that apologized for my experiences. Now, I guess I should preface this call, by explaining that I didn't yell, scream or bitch at the individual. I politely explained why I was dissatisfied and suggested ways they might alleviate the feeling of non-response (one in particular, was to implement an auto-response when they receive e-mail informing the individual who sent the message that they'd received their mail.
Now, let's fast forward to present day. Curious to see if they've improved their communication system, I sent an e-mail. The e-mail basically said that I had called 5 months ago with concerns about their level of response, and was wondering if they'd implemented any auto response system for E-mail, and overall, wanted to see if there was any improvement with responses. It then went on to say several other things and ended with "...a satisfied constituent." Do you think I heard anything back? If you answered no, then you're right. It's now been over a week...not only did I not receive any type of auto-response informing they'd receive my message, I didn't even receive an e-mail back from one fo the staff saying "we're still attempting to improve our systems".
You know. Not responding with one written letter, I can kind of understand. Not responding with the second, again, maybe it slipped through the cracks. But completely ignoring all of my communications, that's completely inexcusable. I know, some of you are saying to yourself, 'Arin, give it a rest. It's the government...' But, that's exactly the point. It is the government. And when I have a concern, I expect my concern to at least be acknowledged. After all, part of my tax dollars and vote is what got this person to where he is.
So, what am I going to do. I'm going to write another letter...
